Mayor of Bridgnorth Proud of Himalaya Tandoori Award and proud of Bridgnorth in Shropshire.

"Dave Miah winning the Editors Choice Award in the Curry Life National Awards really sums up a lot about the man and his family, but also about Bridgnorth as a whole.

As Mayor I come in to contact with very many people and businesses. It is therefore no surprise to me that Bridgnorth was listed by the Guardian as one of the top six places to visit in the country!

We have a thriving High St with very few empty shops, really successful businesses run by local people who are passionate about their shop, or pub or restaurant and want to provide really high standards of service. We also have a lovely sense of community - you cannot walk down our streets without chatting to someone and this is something that is rare and that you cannot "make".

You only have to see the number of visitors to our town, especially on market days to know it is something very special. With the river, the Severn Valley Railways, the Cliff Railway and the beautiful town there are few places that can compete". Mayor and Councillor  Ron Whittle, November 2019.
