Delighted to have been awarded the Customer Choice Award at the Curry Life Awards 2021.

The ceremony at The Royal Lancaster Hotel on Sunday 10th October was a glittering event supported by Ministers, Top Chefs, and Celebrities.

The Customer Choice Award was exactly what it says on the tin, an award given in recognition of the nominations and comments from customers in the area.

One feedback that was quoted by the presenters on the evening -

 "This was hands-down one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. Everything was so tasty and fresh, and all the staff were so attentive."

At the prestigious annual industry awards at London’s Hilton Park Lane, hundreds of Indian restaurant owners from across the country anxiously awaited the results for this year’s winners.  More than 800 people gathered for the glitzy Curry Life awards ceremony which recognises Britain’s best chefs and restaurants.

The Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant in Bridgnorth scooped the Curry Life Editor’s Choice Award after an intensive selection process followed by a public vote.

Restaurant owner Dave Miah was referred to on stage as ‘a legend’ of the Indian food industry during the ceremony which was hosted by Channel 4 News Journalist and Newsreaders Cathy Newman and Adam Shaw. Dave Miah said that he felt privileged that he was able to serve quality and nutritious food to a number of generations of families in Bridgnorth, people with whom he has made lasting friendships in his 40 years as a restaurateur in Shropshire.

Interviewed at the awards ceremony, Dave Miah said “I believe that it is the traditional Indian food that we serve within a friendly and homely atmosphere that has provided a comfortable environment for our customers” said Dave Miah who was humbled by the volume of votes from the public that helped to secure this award.

The Gala evening was held on Sunday 3rd November and attended by prominent public figures including Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder of Cobra beer, who along with Just Eat jointly sponsor this annual event.

The Himalaya Restaurant has been voted the Best Indian Restaurant in Shropshire at the annual Curry Life Awards 2017 & 2018

 

At the 9th Annual Curry Life Awards, Bridgnorth’s Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant was recognised as The Best Indian Restaurant in Shropshire. This is the second consecutive year that the restaurant has won this much sought after accolade.

Restaurants from across the country are nominated by their diners and through a rigorous selection process hope to make it through to the finals. Dave Miah owner of the Himalaya Tandoori, who first established his restaurant in Bridgnorth nearly 40 years ago was delighted to be on stage accompanied by his son and daughter to collect this coveted trophy from news presenter Jon Snow.

Interviewed at the awards ceremony, Dave Miah explained that freshly sourced herbs are key to producing the rich flavours that are so important in his cooking. In recent years a significant reduction in ghee and oil have appealed to the health conscious, adding a healthy options menu and dishes specifically for customers with diabetes.

Dave Miah added that he thanked all of his staff for helping the restaurant win the award but most importantly he wanted to thank his customers who nominated him.

The annual awards at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel to find Britain’s best Indian restaurants saw a gathering of over 600 people at a gala event hosted by Journalist and Broadcaster, Michael Buerk.

Recognising the best 13 restaurants in the country and the best in our county, Himalaya Tandoori, in Bridgnorth fought off still competition to become “Best Indian Restaurant in Shropshire” at the Curry Life Awards 2017.

Owner of Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant, Dave Miah said: “I am delighted to receive this award which is one of the most prestigious in the curry industry and I want to thank my customers and staff for helping me to achieve this. For over 35 years The Himalaya has served authentic Indian food to the people of Bridgnorth and it is nice to see this recognised in the award today”

The gala was attended by many prominent people from the restaurant trade along with guests including Lord Karan Bilimoria, founder and chairman of Cobra beer, Rushanara Ali MP, Matt Western MP, Wes Streeting MP, Paul Scully MP and Sir Keir Starmer MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union.
